Storms and Sap Flow

by Don 4/11/2013 1:47:00 PM

Spring is arriving late with what we hope is our final snow storm. We received 7" of heavy snow and the forest looks more like mid-March than April. But, the good news is the drop in barometric pressure and the moisture laden snow, has stimulated the sap flow.  In the last 24 hours, we have collected nearly .75 gallons of sap / tap and we have 1000 taps.  This places the flow in a "moderate" range, which we judge as between .5-1 gallon / tap. This is good news for all of you wanting to satisfy your desire for our premium maple syrup.

We'll most likely open the website for orders within the next week. If you want to dash off an email for your order, we'll get it ready - dsomers@citlink.net.  We are looking at possible options for ordering syrup in addition to Google checkout. Tomorrow, processing sap into syrup and bottling.
